Salamun alaika ( Surah 6 verse 54 )

I believe the Ahsanal Hadis ( Holy Qur’an – Surah 39 verse 23 ) to be from God.

I am guided by the following :

‘The Beneficent Allah Taught the Quran’ – Surah 55 verses 1 & 2

‘This is Allah’s guidance, He guides thereby whom He pleases of His servants; and if they had set up others (with Him), certainly what they did would have become ineffectual for them’ – Surah 6 verse 88

‘Supremely exalted is therefore Allah, the King, the Truth, and do not make haste with the Quran before its revelation is made complete to you and say: O my Lord ! increase me in knowledge’ – Surah 20 verse 114

I harken to the following warning :

‘And of men is he who takes instead frivolous hadis ( translated as ‘discourse’ by Shakir ) to lead astray from Allah’s path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement. And when Our communications are recited to him, he turns back proudly, as if he had not heard them, as though in his ears were a heaviness, therefore announce to him a painful chastisement’ – Surah 31 verses 6 & 7

Wherefore now, and I pray, so too in the hereafter, I shall reply to My Lord as follows :

‘Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind’ – Surah 7 verse 3

Lord, I hear and I obey.

‘Allah, there is no god but He– He will most certainly gather you together on the resurrection day, there is no doubt in it; and who is more true in hadis ( translated as ‘word’ by Shakir ) than Allah?’ – Surah 4 verse 87

Lord, there is none whose hadis is more true than Yours.

‘These are the communications of Allah which We recite to you with truth; then in what hadis ( translated as ‘announcement’ by Shakir ) would they believe after Allah and His communications? – Surah 45 verse 6

 Lord, only Your communications.

‘In what hadis ( translated as ‘announcement’ by Shakir ), then, after this, will they believe? – Surah 77 verse 50

Lord, only Your hadis.

And if I err, then it is to my Lord alone that I must answer to, Whose Judgment to the exclusion of all others I submit to.

‘Is not Allah the best of the Judges? – Surah 95 verse 8

Salam.

  1. Salam Harisi,

I have been reading your writings for quite some time. And I really admire your broad minded orientation in thinking. I too, have largely come to question the body of hadiths and your writings do convince me to believe the Qur’an alone. No more hadiths.

Oh, may I know where you come from? Thanks.

    Wassalam,
    Tanty

  3. Glad to know that I am not alone on these issues. Hopefully, your writings/essays will spur us to read the Quran more frequently.

  6. The Hadis is like an ammendment to the Quran, the constitution. The Hadis is also used to persecute and kill those who oppose the government/Kings.
Coincidentally the hadis is like also ISA(Islam Security Act)just like ISA(Internal Security Act). Both parties are insecure, thats why the use the ISA.

  7. Asalaam o alaikum,

The Nafs is strong when it wants to step in front of prophet Muhammad PBUh and the commandments from Allah Subhanawataala:

And for those who want to do away with the Sunnah:
Here is food fro thought from Allah Subhanawataala Himself:

“…Whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it and whatsoever he forbids you from, refrain [from it].” [Hashr:7]

“Say: If you love Allah then follow me, Allah will love you and will forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Say: Obey Allah and the Messenger. If they turn away, then Allah indeed does not love those who disbelieve.” [Imran:30-31]

It is very important that this point be clear – we should never answer someone on the premises of “using the Quran alone” because it is an absurd fallacy. The Quran would never have reached us were it not for the Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so if someone doesn’t want to use what the Messenger (peace and blessings be forever upon him), brought – he can’t use the Quran either.
Yes, the narrations in the sunnah have different levels of authenticity, from authentic to weak. Nonetheless, there are narrations that have the same level of authenticity as the Quran – the mutawatir (as mentioned above) – such that anyone who denies a narration that is mutawatir is like denying a verse in the Quran – it is disbelief.

Likewise, denying that the Sunnah is a source of legislation is disbelief because it is direct denial of the verses quoted above.

  8. Salamo aleacom

Hope you are all fine. It is vital to believe in both the Quran and the Sunna of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).
